What We
Offer

There are many ways we can help schools as an English Hub

All of the offerings detailed below are free of charge, and we may even be able to provide you with funding for your time.

CPD

Throughout the year, we hold many CPD events that are free to attend.

Most events are open to any school to attend and are held virtually, to help you to access them with ease.

Some events may be limited in space and will be offered to our Partner Schools first.

Eligibility for Funding and Support

All schools, regardless of location or position, are welcome to attend our virtual CPD sessions where spaces are available. This CPD will always be free to attend and is funded by the DfE.

To ensure the allocation of support and funding from the KST English Hub is offered fairly and where it will make the most impact, we will consider a number of factors, .

If you do not meet any of the following criteria, you may still be eligible for Accelerator Funding. Click here to find out more.

  • Hubs should prioritise schools who meet two of the criteria below:

  • * lower than average percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard in the PSC

  • * low attainment in the bottom 20% of children

  • * a higher than average proportion of children eligible for pupil premium

  • * Ofsted judgement of Requires Improvement or Inadequate

  • * a high proportion of groups considered hard to reach such as EAL, FSM, travellers etc

  • * schools referred by local partners (e.g. NLEs, Las)

  • * schools that sit in an education investment area

Showcases are a free, half day event where school leaders can come together to share best practice in phonics and early reading.

Showcase Response Form

Following the showcase, you will be asked to reflect on your own provision and your chosen SSP. Based on the information provided,  there are a number of options available.

1. You may be invited to an Audit and continue along the hub process

2. You may skip the Audit stage and be offered funding and invited to access our Medium Level Support CPD

3. You may be invited to our Medium Level Support CPD

Audit

This is an opportunity to identify areas of strength and areas for development within your provision. One of our experienced Literacy Specialists will meet with you in your school to carry out an in-depth review of your current reading provision, including observing lessons and looking at resources. This is a collaborative and supportive process.

We contribute towards the cost of releasing staff to take part.

Initial Support Call with Hub Lead

Following an audit, you will speak with Becky Dwyer, our Hub Lead, to reflect on the audit process and to discuss the next steps for your school.

Funding

We may be able to offer you financial support to fund training and resources linked to your SSP.

Most funding offers will require match funding.

Medium Level Support

All schools, regardless of location or position, are welcome to attend our virtual CPD sessions where spaces are available. This CPD will always be free to attend and is funded by the DfE.

Some schools may be directed towards specific sessions based on an assessment of their needs following an audit or self referral.

Intensive Support

Some schools who meet the eligibilty criteria will be invited to become a partner school and receive intensive Hub support. This is a two year partnership that must be commited to at a senior level. Schools will receive a number of visits during the partnership from one of our Hub Literacy Specialists who will provide ongoing, bespoke support.

We contribute towards the cost of releasing staff to take part.

Graduate

Following two years of intensive Hub support, it is the expectation that schools will graduate from the programme. Graduated schools will be offered bespoke follow on support.
